EN version :

We are organising the very first international marathon in the Territory of the Wallis and Futuna Islands! It is taking place on the island of Wallis on Sunday, 10 January 2027.

This is a road race starting and finishing at the Kafika Stadium in our capital, Mata'Utu. The route is pretty flat, but make sure you are ready for the tropical climate—temperatures usually sit around 28 to 32°C with high humidity. Don't worry though, we will have plenty of stations packed with water, fresh fruit, and sugar along the way to keep you fueled.

Just a heads-up: a medical certificate is mandatory, so please send that over to us as soon as possible. If you are registered with a running club or federation, remember to send your licence number across too. We also need a copy of your med insurance.

Bonus perks: We are organising an official presentation to the King of Uvea, which will take place either late Friday afternoon or on Saturday. You will also get to enjoy a proper tour of the island, a fantastic lagoon excursion by Polynesian outrigger canoe, kayak, or surfski, topped off with a traditional local meal (an extra cost will be charged).

If you fancy joining the adventure, we can help you sort out your travel to Wallis (flying via Fiji or New Caledonia) as well as your accommodation (hotels, guesthouses, or homestays) - we recommand Ulukula Hotel, please mention that you are coming for the Marathon. We can help on car rentals.

Plus, we will be waiting at the airport to give you a proper island welcome!

A quick travel tip: our local currency is the Pacific Franc (XPF/CFP). Euros and dollars are not accepted in local shops, and there are no exchange offices on the island. However, ATMs accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

Since this is a French territory, European citizens do not need a visa, and it counts as part of the European zone.

Drop us a line if you need any more details—we would absolutely love to hear from you and welcome you to our beautiful island!
